Dzibilchaltún
Thought to be one of the oldest Maya cities Dzibilchaltún has a charm all its own courtesy of the 16th century Franciscan chapel in the middle of the Maya ruins. Its name means “The place where there is writing on flat stones”. The site has an important museum that houses various Maya and Spanish artifacts from clay pieces to paintings, Spanish armor and weaponry, various Maya stelae, and carved rocks and lintels, all in excellent condition. Another feature of Dzibilchaltún is its cenote, where bathing is delightful.
