Cenote X'Canché

This is an excellent spot to practice ecotourism in the heart of the jungle vegetation with a wide variety of mammals, reptiles and an array of melodious bird species which welcome visitors with their songs. The naturally-formed cenote has been fitted and conditioned to harmonize with the environment thanks to an organized group of people from the township of Hunuku in the municipality of Temozon. They offer guided tours, bike trips, walks around the botanical garden, rappelling down to the cenote, snorkeling, production and sale of handcrafts and delicious ethnic cooking. They also provide ecological bathrooms and palapas where you can take a welcome rest, and even ecological cabins for an overnight stay.

Visitors can also choose to visit the archeological zone of Ek Balam, an obligatory stop on any visit to the region due to its extraordinary architecture, Mayan structures and rich history.

The archeological site of Ek Balam and the Xçanche cenote are located 30 kilometers from Valladolid.

Sunblock, tennis shoes, comfortable clothing, bathing suit, purified water, binoculars, notebook and camera are recommended.
