Progreso is located to the north, 36 km from the city of Mérida along Highway 261. The water on these wonderful beaches is so calm that boat races and windsurfing and fishing tournaments are often held here. There is a large supermarket, typical market, plaza, restaurants, hospitals, hotels, money exchanges, taxis, banks, craft shops, etc.
