Progreso
Port of Entry
The port of entrance to Yucatán is an unbeatable place for the practice of a great variety of water sports: sailboarding, windsurfing and kayaking.
Visitors can take a walk along the pier, enjoy the breeze and savor the delicious regional food in the many restaurants that line the wharf. Today, it is the arrival point of numerous cruise ships from all around the world, which disembark countless passengers who enjoy not only the natural charm and exquisite flavor of the historic port, but also the peace and tranquility of its people. From here they get to know the entire state, taking tourist routes designed for one-day visits, or staying overnight in picturesque hotels overlooking the sea. Some hotels still conserve the “Art Deco” style from the beginning of the century. Its premium position on the Peninsula of Yucatán and its tourist infrastructure, make Progreso the most important port of the state.
