In Mexico the Secretary of Tourism is a member of the Federal Executive Cabinet and is responsible for the orchestration of the nation’s policies, programs and actions directed to the promotion, motivation and stimulation of tourist activities; promoting quality in tourism services and making proper use of available resources, helping to maintain an ecological balance and integrating social and private organizations into the sector’s activities.

The entity is in charge of implementing actions aimed at growing tourist activity, in alignment with adequate planning and organization, and promoting investment both in infrastructure and the destination’s tourist image in national and international markets, in order to increase tourist arrivals and, consequently, the economic spill in a well-balanced benefit to society.

Visión

Tourism is a primary production sector that contributes to the social and economic development of Yucatán through the generation of paid activities that assist in the fight against poverty, favor the generation and diversification of jobs and attract investment through the positioning of the state as a competitive tourist destination.

Objetivo 2012

To diversify Yucatán’s economic activity through tourism.
